WOYWW...ish! #98
Wednesday, 20 April 2011
It's Wednesday, and as I've been doing quite well lately at blogging for WOYWW, I thought I'd go again this week - even though I don't actually have any pictures to show :O
I can tell you though, that my desk is not the nice tidy and organised vision of loveliness that it was last week, oh no! It's back to it's normal disheveled, manic mess that it usually is!
I've been kept very busy lately and have made more cards this month than I did in the whole of last year (I didn't actually count, but I'd say I'm not far off!). And of course, as I always do, I've left quite a few that need to be made to the last minute - commence panic mode!
One of the projects I was panicking about was a card swap that one of my lovely friends on the MAC forum had arranged for Easter. I had planned on being organised and stamped and coloured my images ages ago, and then they sat. and waited...and waited. The poor wee bunnies were feeling very neglected so I took pity on them last night and turned them into cards! So they're now all in the post. So that's one thing marked off my list.
The main thing that has been taking up my time is the wedding invitations, for my cousin, that I mentioned last week. They're due to be sent out this weekend so I'm hoping to get them finished tonight - hence not having any pics of my desk, I don't think she'd be too pleased if pics of her invitations were being beamed across the planet before her guests have received them!
I have a long weekend this weekend - YAY! - so will hopefully get caught up on other things that I need do card-wise - as well as a much needed cleaning of the house! Then I should be suitably behind for some other projects that I can start panicking about!
Thanks for dropping by!
WOYWW #97
Thursday, 14 April 2011
My aunt is visiting from New York, so we went to visit her this evening as she's busy over the weekend. I've got a lot of stuff planned myself for this weekend - I'd like to get another push on the wedding invitations I've been making that are due to be posted out soon.
Anyway, not a big change on the look of my desk from last week as I've been very good and have tidied up (mostly) after myself
I got some new paper bags for putting cards into - you can see them on my side desk here. I've never had a stall or anything so never needed bags before, but after getting quite a few orders lately, I thought it would look more professional if I put them in a bag. I still haven't got around to cataloguing those stamps in the basket yet!
There's a little bit of evidence left on my little desk of some crafting from this week
If you haven't already, head over to Julia's Stamping Ground to see more workdesks. I haven't been able to visit many people lately, but hopefully once I get these wedding invitations done I'll have a bit more time - although, I have 2 other weddings coming up too...it never rains but it pours!

Paper Roses
Sunday, 10 April 2011
I went to a pub quiz last night – my second pub quiz ever, and the first one was years ago! The rest of my team was made up of my mum, 2 sisters and my friend. With extremely low expectations, we were delighted to come third! And with the top 2 teams breaking the rules by having 7 & 8 people on their teams :O – rather than the 5 in the rules – we really won!! As it was for charity though, they were allowed to keep their positions, so we were gracious in defeat. To their faces anyway! Lol
I then got up early this morning to watch the grand prix in Malaysia. It was a really good race and I was delighted to see Nick Heidfeld on the podium – He’s one of the drivers that I met a couple of years ago, so I have a wee soft spot for him!
Anyway, I was asked to make an anniversary card, I think I may have mentioned it before, but I struggle with anniversary cards for some reason – I’m putting it down to the fact that one half of the recipient is a man! So totally ignoring that fact, I went very pink with this one!
I used the fabby Rose Heart from Sketching Stamper, coloured with my copics. I added some Swarovski crystals for a bit of bling.
Just a wee note here, I don’t know if it’s just me, but sometimes I love the effect you get on the back of an image after you’ve coloured it, I thought this one was lovely!
The papers I used were Bo Bunny, Love Bandit and Pink Petticoat, pretty doodles. A few pink pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts some pink satin ribbon to finish off.
I brought the fancy tags element from the front through to the inside along with the same papers.
I don’t usually make cards to stand like this so thought I’d do it this time to be a bit different. Then I discovered that it was too heavy and kept collapsing! I was just about to tear it off to re-do it when I had an idea – I ran some power pritt stick down the edges of the card where it would be standing. I let it dry before I stood it up and it gave the edges a rubberised sort of feel, so it didn’t slip when I stood it up. It worked a treat! So there’s a wee tip for you!
Quite a few challenges this time:

A Spoonful of Sugar; Tons of Texture – the ribbon and the card – also I think the roses on the image give the effect of texture.

WOYWW

I can’t believe it’s been a week since the last WOYWW! But what a difference a week can make!!
I’ve tidied up! *proud moment!* And here’s the proof...
Look at that all tidy, and I’m even in the middle of making a card! I coloured, cut and blinged that heart last night so now it just needs to be transformed into something resembling a card.
And remember the piles of stuff on my other 2 desks last week? Check them out now!
I've put everything away apart from a few more stamps that need to be mounted and catalogued, I spent ages cataloguing the ones that didn’t need mounting (when did I buy so many new stamps??). I have added the basket to try to keep things tidy in the future.
And here’s the other wee desk
I treated myself to a new TV and bluray player (in a not-to-be-missed deal!) and I can’t believe how much extra room it gives me compared to the old TV set-up. Good stuff!! More room to leave more stuff!! No, no, no! I will keep it tidy!
Famous last words!

A Rockin' Birthday!
Tuesday, 5 April 2011
I always find men’s cards a pain in the backside to come up with! And as it was my brother’s birthday recently, I had a pain in the backside!! Lol
So imagine my joy when I saw the fantastic selection of stamps in the “Rock Squad” category on Kenny K Downloads?! Because my brother is a bit of a rocker ye see!!
So here’s the card I made for him...
How brilliant is that image! Stephen Tyler eat your heart out!! Coloured with my copics.
The paper (a single sheet I bought in some craft shop or other is by Glitz it now) is one I’ve had for an age, with making a card for him in mind with it, but not having the right image until now. I also embossed a piece of black card with a cuttlebug embossing folder. I added a couple of gromlets with my crop-a-dile (although I must admit that I’m not entirely sure what the correct purpose of a gromlet is! Lol) and some lengths of a fairly heavy chain, which I added some relatively rocky charms to.
The inside is fairly simple (well it is a male card!) with the sentiments from Kraftin’ Kimmie
This card fits the following challenges:
Cards for Men; Embossing
Copic Creations; Your favourite Copic technique – mine is just using them! Lol
Double Dutch; Something old (my paper), something new (the image), something borrowed (I “borrowed” the star paperclip from my siser!) and something blue (the card base)
My Partner in Crafting Crime; Layer it up
Totally Papercrafts challenge; One for the Boys

Happy Mother's Day!
Sunday, 3 April 2011
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mummies out there! I’m a little late in saying it here, but it’s been a busy day. My brother, sisters and I got a lovely pamper day for my mum and my sister got one as well, I came up with the idea to do that so I could go too - genius or what?!!
I had a busy weekend tidying my craft room and I didn’t realise just how overdue it was for a good tidy up until I came across my Christmas papers! Lol! To be fair, I purposely didn’t put them away cos I thought I’d make some Christmas cards, but I just don’t have the heart for it at the moment so they're all away now!
Anyway, this is the card I made for my mum...
I followed a fab tutorial on Heather’s blog on how to make shadow box cards.
I filled my box with hand-made wound-up roses, which I added a Swarovski crystal bead and some glitter. The glitter went on a little gloopy, but I think I quite like it - it looks a little like rain!
You can see the depth of the box here
The paper is Bo Bunny from the Vickie B paper pad. The sentiment is from a Kraftin’ Kimmie set and I added some Wild Orchid Crafts pearls to the corners.
I used the same papers on the inside
And finished it off in a matching box (I’ve been practicing tying bows, but I’m still not very good at it! And I have trimmed the ends of the bow since I took the photo.)
This card fits the following challenges:
Allsorts; Blooming Blossoms
Charisma Cardz Challenges; Bling & Sparkles
Delightful Challenges; Flowers
Oh La La Creations; Mother’s Day/ Special Friend
Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog; Spring Blossoms
Stampin’ for the Weekend; For Mum/Mother’s Day (not too much stamping on this one – just the sentiments on the front and the inside)
Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays; Glitz
ABC Challenge; R is for Roses
