Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Wednesday, 13 November 2013

Hi everyone!

It's been another busy day and I can't wait to get to bed so I'm gonna try to make this short and sweet!

We have a new challenge for you today at the Creative Card Crew and a fab sponsor - The Scrapping Center!

http://www.scrappingcenter.com/
They are offering a $15 voucher to one lucky winner!

So the challenge for you for the next fortnight is...

Pearls!

Easy peasy!  Here's what I did for a friend who recently got divorced (sad in a way but also a good chance for a celebration!)

The image is "Friends don't let friends wine alone" by Bugaboo and I don't have my list of copics that I used for the image, but by the looks of it, I used pretty much all of them! lol!

The papers are Cosmo Cricket; Upcycle and I added 3 pink pearls to match.  The sentiment was computer generated and the 3 ribbons are from my stash.

The inside was done to match the front and I used a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps Film Strip Sentiments set but without the film strip!

I actually had 2 friends who got divorced a day apart so I made my other friend a very similar card at the same time so it has pretty much the same layout and papers from the same set.  I used another Bugaboo image on it - this time "JJ Tequila & shoes - Instant fun".  Here's both cards together.

So that's my card(s).  Pop over to the Creative Card Crew blog to check out what the rest of the DT did!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Charisma Cardz Challenge; Anything goes
Crafty Catz; Inspirational photo - I'm taking the celebration as my inspiration!
Daring Cardmakers; All the other reasons
Twisted Tuesday Challenges; Pop dots and polka dots - my image and sentiment are popped up and the backgound paper has polka dots.
Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Challenges; Anything goes

Celebrations!

Monday, 22 July 2013

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all keeping well?

This was supposed to be posted this morning and I don't know what happened that it didn't work, it's probably the heat getting to me - we're in Ireland, it's not supposed to be this hot for this long!!  Not that I'm complaining that much though, it's nice for a change and I don't think it's going to last too much longer.

On other news...

I'm an auntie again!  My brother became a daddy to his little boy last Tuesday and as our parents were away on holiday at the time (and were so annoyed that they missed it!)  it was up to me and my sister to do our side of the family's part - as well as keep an eye on their house, feed cats and water plants.  Oh and go to work as well!  All in this heat, I was totally exhausted!  But my new wee nephew is just so gorgeous!  I can't show pics though as they don't want him on the internet just yet, so you'll just have to take my word for it!

Time for a new challenge at Seems A Little Sketchy and we have a fabulous sponsor for the next fortnight - Bugaboo Stamps!

They're offering 7 digi's to one lucky winner!

So here's the sketch for challenge 44

Bugaboo very kindly gave each of the DT an image to work with for this challenge and here's what I did with mine:

My image is called Scene It - Birthday Bears and I've coloured it with the following copics:  Bears: E44,43,42. E39,37,35. E33,31,30. W7,5,3. and E49 for their noses.  Everything else: G19,17,16. YG07,05,03. R39,37,29. RV34,32. YR07,04,02. Y15,13,11. BG02,01,000,0000. C1,0.

The papers are Basic Grey, Lime Rickey and I used a Stampin' Up! scallop border punch on some scrap card for the middle part, finishing off with some crocheted lace.  I used my old favourite Magnolia swirl die along with a Cheery Lynn Designs Mini Fanciful Flourish die.  I also found some pompoms in my stash that were the perfect shade of blue to finish it off.  Another couple of Stampin' Up! punches were used for the (WRS) sentiment.

The inside compliments the front with the same basic sketch and the same papers.

So take a look at the fab inspiration from the rest of the DT at Seems A Little Sketchy!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

4 Crafty Chicks; Let's hear it for the boys
Craft Your Passion; Happy Birthday
Crafty Boots Challenges; Animals
Eureka Stamps; Happy Birthday
Ladybug Craft Ink Challenge Blog; Birthdays
One Stitch At A Time; Use your favourite (my copics are always my favourite!)

Tequila!

Tuesday, 19 February 2013

Hi everyone,  I'm late again but I didn't get time to schedule my post last night and have been at work all day so just getting to it now.  I'm even putting off playing with a few new Copics that arrived today so I better get cracking!

Another challenge at the Creative Card Crew and another sponsored by The Scrapping Center

They're offering one lucky winner a $15 gift voucher for their fab store!  To be in with a chance all you have to do is enter the easy peasy challenge of...

Birthdays!

Probably the next easiest challenge after anything goes, so I can see a busy fortnight of commenting on the horizon!

I actually made my card a while ago but here's what I did

I used the fantastic image from Bugaboo called Tequila!  and I coloured her with the following copics: Skin: E21,13,00,0000,R20. Dress; B05,02,01. Hair; E39,35,33. Boots; YR04,02,01.  I left a bit of a border around her when I cut her out as I didn't fancy cutting around those stilettos!  I attached her to the card at a wonky angle to emphasise the effect of said Tequila! lol!  Oh, and I added a few swarovski's to her hair as she's obviously dressed to be out on the town!

The papers are MME Fine and Dandy Tickled Pink.  The banner was made with a Stampin' Up punch and the same papers, and I threaded some Typo bakers twine throught it.
The sentiment is a LOTV clear sentiment and I added the 21 with some wee cheapo stamps I've had for ages and it was cut out with nesties.

The inside has more papers from the same stack and compliment the front and I've also used the fab sentiment that came with the image!

I made this card for my cousin and it turned out to be quite an accurate representation of how things went! lol!

So go and take a peek at the rest of the DT's fab creations at the Creative Card Crew and I'm sure I'll see you there!

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Bearly Mine Challenges: Lace, Ribbon, Twine

Twice In One Day!

Sunday, 6 January 2013

Well, it's 11:30pm when I started typing so I hope it'll make it into today!

I was lucky enough to be picked as a top 3 in one of Quirky Crafts challenges  before Christmas and got the opportunity to join them as a guest designer!  I jumped at the chance as I was disappointed that I wasn't able to join them when the same opportunity came up just when I had my accident.
Imagine my panic when I switched on my computer on Saturday after it being off for 2 weeks to see that I had an email from the lovely Cazzy with the details of the new new challenge and I was already late submitting it!
So I fired off an email to see if I was too late and Cazzy replied nice and quickly and was lovely about me being late and I was still OK.  So I printed out the fabby image she supplied from one of their sponsors for this week - Bugaboo stamps no less!  And the challenge is:

Some Thing New, with Pink!

Like a busy bee I coloured and cut and stuck and glued and this is what I came up with:

The image is Just Married by Bugaboo and I coloured it with the following promarkers: Skin: Sunkissed pink, Oatmeal, Blush, Pastel pink.  Car; Pumpkin, Amber, Apricot.  Bumper & suit; Petrol blue, Marine, Turquoise.  Heart etc; Cerise, Baby pink, Pale pink.  Tyres etc; Black, Ice grey 5,3,1.
I printed the image out 3 times and 3D'd it up for lots of dimension. (and the glue gel seems to have seeped through the image unfortunately :(  )

The papers are My Minds Eye, Tickled Pink.  I used a Spellbinder lg circle die to cut out the image and I then used a small circle punch to punch out lots of cerise and blue circles for the border around the image, finishing it off with a few gems.  The sentiment is computer generated and highlighted with a clear Sakura Stardust pen.

The inside compliments the front with scalloped dies and Memory Box Simple Banner die-cuts to match.  Again, the sentiment is computer generated.

So that's my card!  A huge thank you to Cazzy for putting up with me and to the Quirky Crafts Challenge blog for having me as a guest designer!  Short and sweet but I really enjoyed it!

Snow in August?!!

Tuesday, 28 August 2012

...ish!

 Morning everyone!

The weather hasn't been great lately, but thankfully it's not quite that bad! lol!

Maybe it'll make a bit more sense when I tell you that it's time for a new challenge at the Creative Card Crew challenge blog and you'll never guess what the challenge is!  For the next fortnight we want to see lots of creations featuring...

Christmas!

Our challenge is being sponsored by the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps

and they're offering the lucky winner 7 digi's!  So come on over to the challenge blog and join in - you have to be in it to win it!

Lucky us as the DT were each given an image to make a card with and here's what I did with mine

As I said already, the image is by Bugaboo and is simply called "Snow".  I coloured it with Copics - Letters; B95,93,91. Hat;100,B39,37,R39,37. Nose; YR07,04,02. Shading; C3.  I then coated the letters with glossy accents, using a toothpick to spread it into the fiddly areas and then smothered it with glamour dust and left it to dry before tipping off the excess.  It's really extra sparkly in real life!

The papers I used are Kars from the X-mas Collection - I got it a few years ago and didn't want to use it cos it was so lovely but I thought this image suited it so much that I had to be very brave and cut it up!  I gave the edges of the blue mat a coat of Clear Rock Candy distress crackle paint, you can't really see it in the photo's but it gives a nice subtle effect.  The ribbon is from my stash and the snowflake is a Christmas table decoration I bought in a sale a couple of years ago.

The inside is simple - I usually always keep the inside of Christmas cards simple cos of needing so many of them.  I used a Memory Box snowflake corner die and attached at the corners so it give a bit of movement in the card.  The Merry Christmas sentiment is a Papermania stamp.

I hadn't made any Christmas cards this year yet and as I used up the whole 12x12 sheet I now have a grand total of 4!

So let me see who is more organised than me and are making Christmas cards already!  Come and join in the fun with the Creative Card Crew and check out the rest of the DT's fabby cards while you're there!

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:

Craft Your Days Away; Anything goes farewell challenge
Creative Inspirations; Sentimental
Cute Card Thursday; Bling it up
Divas By Design; Anything goes
Joanna Sheen Challenge Blog; Totally sentimental
Paperplay Challenges; Sentiment as main image
Christmas All Year Round; Kids Christmas

Friday, 27 July 2012

Good morning everyone!
And a beautiful morning it is too - at long last!  We've had lot's of rain and cloud here in Northern Ireland while everyone else, it seems, was getting lovely weather - no fair!!  Pity I can't enjoy the sun today as I'm stuck in work :(

But anyway, today is Friday, so that means there's a 50% chance of there being a new challenge on the Alphabet Challenge Blog and today we're in luck!!
We're up to M and the lovely Shaz chose the theme of...

M for Men Only!

Always a tough theme so I made my card early - so although my card for today is for Father's Day, it was given to my dad on the actual day! lol!

Here it is:

The fun image is from the fabulous Bugaboo and is called Consciousness.  He's coloured with the following copics: Skin: E21,13,00,0000,R20.  Clothes: B39,37,34,16,14,12.  Cup: Y08,06,02 Hair: C9,7,5,3.  I used a clear Sakura glaze pen on the mug and his glasses.

The papers are Basic Grey Lime Rickey.  The sentiment is by Lili of the valley from the postage sentiments sent.  The buttons are from my stash.

The inside uses the same papers and the sentiment that came with the image.

So go to the Alphabet Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the design teams fab work and have a go yourself!
