 Hi everyone!

I can't get over how cold it has gotten this week - a few weeks ago I thought I'd never feel cold again, now I can't get warmed!  There's no pleasing me, I tell ye!  A happy medium would be nice - I don't think we should be turning the heating back on in the middle of August!  It's meant to still be summer!  Ah well, not long now til the long dark nights with the rain beating off the windows and the wind howling through the trees - I must admit, I do enjoy sitting in the house, warm and cosy, listening to that.  I think it's because I'm a winter baby.

I'm back with another one that's a few days late, we have a challenge running on the Alphabet Challenge Blog and we're up to the letter N and it was my turn to choose the theme so I chose...

Natural

Use things that are natural like wood, feathers, real flowers (not paper ones) things like that.

Here's what I did

The natural things on my card are all bunched together, I've got feathers, skeleton leaves, dried flowers and leaves and raffia.

The papers I have used are First Edition, Desert Blooms and the sentiment is a stamp from My Sentiments Exactly.  I stamped it onto cream hammered card which I also punched the edge with a Martha Stewart border punch.  The paper has glittered elements on it and the cream feather is also glittered so there's a lovely sparkle off it!

For the inside I repeated the layout from the front but I only used one skeleton leaf this time.

So that's it, I hope you can join us over at the Alphabet Challenge Blog!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Bearly Mine Challenges; Anything goes
Crafts 4 Eternity; Something old - the dried flowers are one of the first things I bought when I started crafting and this is the first time I've used them!

Movember Thanks!

Sunday, 3 November 2013

Hey everyone!
I hope you're all well?  I feel like I have a hangover today, I was at a party last night, but I wasn't drinking, it could be something to do with the fact that it was 7am before I got home from it though!  It was a good night!
I was at a pub quiz on Friday night too (the reason why I wasn't drinking last night - I can't do 2 nights in a row, I'm getting too old for that!).  Me and a few of the boys from work entered a team and we were so surprised to finish in 3rd place!  Especially saying as there were more than 3 teams entered in the quiz!  We're smarter than the average bear!  Lol!

But back to business and we have a new challenge today from the Pink Team at Eclectic Ellapu and it was the lovely Elaine's turn to host and the theme she has chosen is...

Black & White!

Fab theme!  I seem to using that theme a lot lately!

Here's my card for you, celebrating the fact that we are now in Movember!

The image is a stamp that I bought in Paperchase in the House Of Fraser in Belfast, I love looking through all their bits and pieces, I don't usually buy much though!  I stamped the moustache with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then stamped a Waltzing Mouse sentiment from the Fancy Phrases set with the same ink.

The papers are all from Pink Petticoat and are all in Jet Black.  I mounted on plain black card and I used a Viva Pearl pen in anthracite to anchor the corners of each layer.

The inside uses the same papers and layout.  I didn't add the pearl pen to the inside as I find it sticks even after it has dried.

So that's my card, pop over to Eclectic Ellapu to check out the rest of the DT's fab inspiration!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

613 Avenue Create; Anything goes
CRAFT Challenge; For the boys
Crafty Sentiments design Challenge; Anything goes

Sunday, 1 September 2013

Hi everyone!

A late one from me, not only tonight but this should've been posted on Friday!  My shoulders have been playing up something serious and I didn't have my project finished on time.

Thanks to everyone who entered my blog candy, I'm astounded by the number of entries and by how many new followers I've got - big hello to you all and welcome!  It has now closed and I meant to be organised enough to draw my winners today, but I'm running a bit behind so I'll draw them in the next day or two.  Sorry for the delay!

So we have a new (ish!) challenge up on the Alphabet Challenge Blog and Shaz has been lovely and let me add my project a bit late, but Tammy has chosen a fab challenge for the next fortnight...

O for One Word Sentiment!

I decided to make this into a little project and made a box set of cards like this one...

I used a large "Thanks" stamp on white card with versamark and I used clear embossing powder over the word.  I then used some distress inks and blended the colour from the corner up over the word.  To make the word stand out a little more I used the same ink pad and a paint brush to give a shadow to the letters.

I then used a flower and swirl doohickey to make up the flowers in contrasting colours and added some tiny beads to the centres of the flowers.  Matching ribbon was also attached.  I added the ribbon to the inside as well.

I made a set using 4 different colours.

And I made a box to put them all in!

So please take a look at the Alphabet Challenge Blog to see the gorgeousness from the rest of the ladies (who were on time!) and have a go yourself!

I'd like to enter these cards in the following challenges:

All Sorts Challenge Blog; It's all about the sentiment
Charisma Cardz Challenges: One
Delightful Challenges: Make the cut
Less Is More: Use a rubber stamp

A Thank You Card

Thursday, 20 August 2009

I was asked to make 2 thank you cards for 2 male tutors.
I didn't quite know what to do, but as I was looking through my stamps , I was inspired by the name of one of my Sugar Nellies.

This is what I came up with:

Photobucket

I made them both pretty much the same, just slightly different colours. I coloured the image with my promarkers. I also decoupaged the girl and then the hat again.

Photobucket

I wrote the sentiment (which is the name of the stamp) onto a Tim Holtz ticket

Photobucket

And then put the thank you note on the very plain inside

Photobucket

And finished it off in a box

No challenges this time.

Thanks for dropping by!

Yay!! I've made a card!!

Monday, 12 January 2009

Finally! It feels so good to get back into card making - this is my first card of 2009!
And it's my first ever challenge card!
And, it's a double whammy - it fits 2 challenges!!!

I picked this challenge to do as the time runs out for it tomorrow!! It's the Spoonful Of Sugar challenge which is a sketch - my first sketch to follow, and do you know what.... I really like sketches! I always find it hard to build a card - knowing where to put things, and this does all the hard work for you!

This is the sketch:

The second challenge is a colour challenge from Roses on Paper.
They want you incorporate white, evergreen and grape into your creation. They also have a selection of stamps that you must use.

So 2 fab challenges that I couldn't wait to get stuck into!
And here's my effort...

Photobucket

I think the sketch is covered. The base card is white and the mounting is green and grape so I think that bit is covered too.
I love this magnolia stamp (it's actually one of only two magnolia stamps that I own - I must get some more, 'cos I love them!) I coloured it with H20's. I can't remember where the blossom stamp and Thank You stamp were from - I haven't got the packaging for them anymore so if anyone else knows tell me for future reference! I also went over the sentiment with clear stardust pen and doodled some stitches with a black pen.
The flowers are flora doodles that I got from Joanna Sheen. The fibres were bought at a local shop and I got the bells in The Pier's closing down sale in Victoria Square in Belfast - it didn't last long :(

This is the inside:

I stamped the unknown blossom stamp along the top and bottom and coloured with watercolour pencils - the first time I've used them also! The sentiment is a freebie that I got from Funky Kits with some Sugar Nellies that I got - a brilliant freebie that'll be used over and over again!! Love it!!

I think I'm gonna give it to my parents to thank them for having me over Christmas and for all the lovely pressies they gave me too. Aren't I good!!!

So, a whole lotta first's for me in this one and I really enjoyed making it.

I hope you like it too!
