Fore You!

Sunday, 6 April 2014

 Good morning everyone!

This is an exciting day!  I've just found out that Sky Atlantic are showing the first episode of Game of Thrones series 4 tonight!!  It will be on at 2am to coincide with when it is being aired in the States.  It's a wee bit annoying that it's on in the middle of the night as I have to be away early in the morning so I won't be able to stay up to watch it, but I will record it and have it there to watch as soon as I get home tomorrow instead of having to wait until tomorrow night!!  This is the series where the scenes will be shown that were filmed on my family's land, I don't know which episode it will be in though but I will definitely recognise it as we were allowed on set! :D

So as I calm myself down I will tell you about the new challenges up today on Eclectic Ellapu - 2 challenges running side by side.  The Pink team and the Purple teams challenges are...

One For The Boys

&

Easter!

As I'm on the Pink team here's my card that I made for my Daddy's birthday

I made a twisted easel card, cos I thought it would look good as a wee golf-y flag!

I love this image from Mo's Digital Pencil as it reminds me a lot of my Daddy, he plays golf and he sticks his tongue out like that, all the time! lol!  I coloured him with the following Copics: Skin;E21,13,00,0000,R20. Clothes;E39,37,35,29. E47,44,43. YG97,95,93,91. Grass;E43,29,G17,14,YG97,95,93. Sky;C4,2,B00,000.

The papers are from Tim Holtz' Retro Grunge pad.  I punched out the triangles with a Stampin' Up punch and stamped them with the matching stamps for the edging.  The sentiment is hand-written.  I die-cut some circles and embossed them with my swiss dots folder and used the back as the front to look like golf balls.  I used a really old and crappy alphabet stamp set to stamp the letters on them after I had affixed them to the card, and made a total hash of it!  But, what's done is done!

And that's my card, make sure you go and see all the wonderful inspiration from the rest of the DT at Eclectic Ellapu and join the Pink team's challenge, I think we can do better than the purple team!! lol!
Go Pinks!!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

4 Crafty Chicks; Colour a stamped image
Allsorts Challenge Blog; No flowers
Craft Your Passion Challenges; Shaped cards
Cute Card Thursday; All boy
Ladybug Crafts Challenge Blog; Birthday
Patties Creations Design Challenge; Fancy folds

It's All About The Journey

Friday, 15 June 2012

Good afternoon all!

What a miserable day it is!  I've had to put my winter coat on today and it's June!!  What happened to our summer?

Anyway, apologies for being such a bad blogger over the past few weeks - life just gets in the way sometimes, no other reason than that I'm afraid.  But hopefully I'll soon be back into the swing of things.

It's Friday again and this one is an Alphabet Challenge Blog Friday!  We didn't have a huge number of entries for our Ice Cream challenge, but I suppose with the change in the weather no-one felt like making ice-cream cards!
So we're up to J and my lovely teamie Caz chose the theme....

J for Journey!

Lots of directions to go with that one! (lol)

The direction I took was a little different from my normal one and I decided to alter a shoe box to turn it into a memory box of my trip to Australia.

Hard to photograph but here goes...

I used Powerpoint and picked out my favourite photo's from my trip and arranged them before printing them out and covering the box.

I then picked out letters from my Tim Holtz grunge board letters (well, I couldn't have a "Journey" theme and not use some Tim Holtz stuff!!) and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder.  I was originally going to do them all different colours but then decided keeping them all gold would be nicer.  I attached them to the lid with some glue gel.

As the trip was sort of divided into four parts I used a side of the box for each part, so I have Perth part 1 on one side, Melbourne on another, Sydney on another and Perth part 2 on the last side.  The lid has a selection of photo's from the whole trip all together.  I then typed each location in a font and colour that I thought represented my feeling of being in each place (deep, I know!).

So now I have somewhere to put all my wee keepsakes and tickets and things.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyones take on this fortnight's challenge - so go and take a trip over to the Alphabet Challenge Blog and have a go!

Yee-haw!!

Tuesday, 17 May 2011

Howdy folks! Up and at it early for me this morning! I’m putting it down to the fact that I’ve recently started drinking tea, but I seem to have a lot more energy lately which is no bad thing!!! Even the smoke alarm that needs a new battery and started tweeting last night didn’t annoy me – and it’s on the ceiling downstairs, right under the floor of my bedroom! I must remember to get a new battery today.

Anyway, I went for a cowgirl theme with this one.

Photobucket

I used a Greeting Farm stamp “Cheeky Shooter” coloured with copics (What else?!) and cut out with a nestie.

Photobucket

I embossed a panel with a starry CB embossing folder which I went over lightly with sand paper to soften a little. Then I cut out some stars, glittered them and triple embossed them with UTE – cos I didn’t have time to wait on glossy accents to dry, but it worked out quite well. The papers are Tim Holtz Retro Grunge. A Whimsey Stamps ticket to finish.

Photobucket

A simple inside with a nestie shape to match the front and another star. The sentiment is a Wild Rose studio stamp.

A Bit of an Alteration

Monday, 21 February 2011

I bought a box ages ago and decided I would decorate it and give it to my mum for Christmas. As with all these kinds of things, it was very difficult to get decent pictures of it, but here's the best I could do...

Photobucket

Photobucket

The papers I used are DCWV from the Mariposa stack and I attached some Tim Holtz metal feet. I painted the lid with distress crackle paint in antiqued bronze and went over it with a dark distress ink (can't remember which one) and perfect pearls. I stuck an array of flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts over the lid along with some spellbinders die cut butterflies, made using grunge paper and painted with the same crackle paint as the lid.

Photobucket

I stuck some Swarovski crystals down the body of the butterfly for a bit of bling. I used another spellbinder die to cut the tag and stamped "with love" using stazon.

Photobucket

I found candles that fitted perfectly into the box so I decorated them with butterflies to fit the theme.

Photobucket

And protected them with organza tied with ribbon

Photobucket

I was quite pleased as it's the first thing I've properly tried to alter. My mum loved the present but thought I bought it somewhere!

I hope you liked it, thanks for looking!

Men, so challenging!

Thursday, 29 July 2010

I thought I'd better hurry and get this blogged, before I miss the challenge this week on the Alphabet Challenge Blog - it's M for Men. This was my friend Andria's last week as guest designer on the blog - well done Andria!

I hope it's ok to enter this card as I confess I didn't actually make it this week! I made it a few weeks ago for my friends dad who turned 60, but I haven't blogged it yet, so hopfully I'm not breaking any rules!

Here's my card

Photobucket

I couldn't think what to put on the card and after some inspiration from my MAC mates, I thought a wine bottle and glass would suit.
The problem was then that I don't actually have a stamp like that! So I asked my wonderfully talented and artistic brother if he could draw something for me (please note the praise and hopefully he'll do something for me gain sometime!!).
And after a not very good description from me, he drew exactly what I wanted!

Photobucket

I felt really under pressure to get it right as I only had the one image - so no mistakes! My colouring wasn't perfect, but I was happy enough with the result. I used my copics to colour it.

I printed my sentiments onto paper and cut them into strips, distressed them a bit and attached them with a staple and foam pads.

The design papers I used are from my Tim Holtz pad - a nice selection of manly colours!

A few big metal brads and the card was done.

This is the inside

It was delivered with the bottle of Moet, so I'm not sure how much attention the card got!!

I hope you like it, thanks for dropping by!
