Welcome Baby

Saturday, 6 August 2011

Ahh, a weekend to relax!  Hardly!
I was away last weekend on my friends hen party in Cardiff.  We had an absolute blast, but I must admit that it took a wee while to recover!

So the last hen party means that I’m getting ever closer to the 2 weddings that I’ve been working on – both at the very start of September.  I’m working on orders of service and placenames, and I’m getting there, slowly but surely.

I was delighted to learn that my neighbours just had their wee baby last week too, and even more delighted to be able to make a card that has nothing to do with weddings!!

So here it is

Photobucket

I used a Motivet stamp that I’ve had for ages but had never used, it’s called Doraline with Baby Carriage.  I coloured her up with my copics and prisma-pencils.

Photobucket

The papers are Echo Park, Blossoms and Gingham Gaby.
I used an edge punch along the bottom of the card before I cut the base card for a bit of interest.  I used a cuttlebug embossing folder for one of the panels which I then roughly painted the edges with some Tim Holtz distress crackle paint.
The lettering is a sizzix die set called Tina Thinks You’re Cute.  I dug out my sewing machine and went around the edges in a very arty way (only because I can’t sew in a straight line! Lol) and added a few Swarovski crystals to finish.

Photobucket

I used the same layout on the inside and used the sewing machine again.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges

Craft Us Crazy – Anything Goes in August
Delightful Challenges – Stitching
Papertake Weekly Challenge – Anything Goes
The ABC Challenge – A is for Auburn
The Shabby Tea Room – Mix & Match (I’m hoping my embossed layer counts as a third paper, if not I’ll delete my entry)

Thanks for looking!

Happy 2nd Birthday Ryan!

Wednesday, 23 September 2009

Yesterday was my wee nephew's 2nd birthday - I can't believe he's 2 already! Where has the time gone?!
He loves loads of different characters (some I've never heard of!) But one of his favourites is Brum!

Here's my card

Photobucket

I used the sketch from this weeks Friday Sketchers

Photobucket

I found this digi stamp at Mo's Digital Pencil and thought it was perfect for him! I added the word "Brum" myself. And I coloured it with my trusty promarkers.

Photobucket

I stitched around each mat with my sewing machine.

It also fits the challenge at The Corrosive Challenge blog, which is to make a kids birthday card.

Photobucket

Papers are from the Basic Grey Cupcake paper pad. Sentiments are computer generated.

Here's the inside:

When Ryan tore the envelope off he was so excited to see Brum and tried to take it off the card!! Good thing I had done the decoupage the night before, so the glue gel was well and trully hardened!

I hope you liked it - thanks for dropping by!

Bee-Hive yourself!

Photobucket

This is a card of many firsts! It's the first time I've used this yummy Magnolia Tilda with bee, and it's the first time I used a mask for stamping! I sat Tilda on her big flower so as her bee would feel at home! It's also the first time I've used a sewing machine on my cards! I've been wanting to try it for months and finally got my sewing machine set up in my craft room at the weekend. It was so much easier than I was expecting!! And I love the results!

Here's my card:

I stitched around all the edges and also stitched a flight path for the couple of bee's on the backing paper!

Here's a close up of Tilda:

I'm getting happier with my colouring, it really does just take practice...lot's of it!!

I was making this card just so I could try out the sewing machine and I had a sentiment printed out and ready to cut which said "Ha-Bee Birthday!" when I realised that this card would be perfect for this weekend!! I'm going on a hen weekend to Edinburgh (and I think I'm safe enough to tell all as the bride doesn't read my blog.) The theme for the weekend is "Miss Bee-Hivin'!" and on Saturday night we're dressing the Bride-to-be up as Amy Winehouse!! Bee-hive, tattoo's and all!! I'm really looking forward to it!
Ditzy me had started making the card and didn't even twig about the whole bee/bee-hive thing until it was almost too late! Thankfully I noticed in time, which luckily has ended up saving me loads of time instead of making another card! I made the inside look a little more hen-partyish (ie. there's a hen in it!!) and I've left loads of room to get everyone to sign the card - it's an 8x8" card so there is loads of room!

Here's the inside:

It's also the first time in ages that I haven't followed a sketch! So no challenge to enter there...
It does, however, fit the challenge this week at Just Magnolia which is Animals and insects - I've got both!

Hope you like it!
