Just A Note...

Friday 29 June 2012

Hi everyone, it's me - the bad blogger again!
Still up to my eyes in this and that but should hopefully be back to "normal" soon.

But I popped on today to share the new challenge which is up on the Alphabet Challenge Blog!  We're up to K now and it was the turn of my lovely teamie Tammy to choose the theme.  And she chose....

K for Kitchen!

I made a wee hanging notelet holder for the kitchen where you can write down groceries or to-do lists.

The image is by Whiff of Joy and is called Willow with cookies.  I coloured her with my pro-markers.Skin: Sunkissed pink, Oatmeal, Blush & Pastel pink.  Apron: Cerise, Pink carnation & Blossom.  Trousers: Ruby, Antique pink & Dusky rose.  Top: Mint green, Soft green & Fresh meadow.  Hair: Umber, Burnt sienna, Sandstone & Satin.
The strawberries and bowl of apples are also Whiff of Joy and coloured with the same colours.

The papers are ones that I bought in Australia and are by Typo.  They're such lovely colours - I'll have to see if I can get them here.  I used some old chip board from some packaging to back the papers onto so it's nice and strong.

The ribbon is from my stash and the post-it notes are ones that I've "borrowed" from work! lol!  The sentiment on the post-it's is also a Whiff of Joy stamp, stamped with memento Olive Grove ink.

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:

It's All About The Journey

Friday 15 June 2012

Good afternoon all!

What a miserable day it is!  I've had to put my winter coat on today and it's June!!  What happened to our summer?

Anyway, apologies for being such a bad blogger over the past few weeks - life just gets in the way sometimes, no other reason than that I'm afraid.  But hopefully I'll soon be back into the swing of things.

It's Friday again and this one is an Alphabet Challenge Blog Friday!  We didn't have a huge number of entries for our Ice Cream challenge, but I suppose with the change in the weather no-one felt like making ice-cream cards!
So we're up to J and my lovely teamie Caz chose the theme....

J for Journey!

Lots of directions to go with that one! (lol)

The direction I took was a little different from my normal one and I decided to alter a shoe box to turn it into a memory box of my trip to Australia.

Hard to photograph but here goes...

I used Powerpoint and picked out my favourite photo's from my trip and arranged them before printing them out and covering the box.

I then picked out letters from my Tim Holtz grunge board letters (well, I couldn't have a "Journey" theme and not use some Tim Holtz stuff!!) and heat embossed them with gold embossing powder.  I was originally going to do them all different colours but then decided keeping them all gold would be nicer.  I attached them to the lid with some glue gel.

As the trip was sort of divided into four parts I used a side of the box for each part, so I have Perth part 1 on one side, Melbourne on another, Sydney on another and Perth part 2 on the last side.  The lid has a selection of photo's from the whole trip all together.  I then typed each location in a font and colour that I thought represented my feeling of being in each place (deep, I know!).

So now I have somewhere to put all my wee keepsakes and tickets and things.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyones take on this fortnight's challenge - so go and take a trip over to the Alphabet Challenge Blog and have a go!

I Scream, You Scream...

Friday 1 June 2012

Evening all!

I'm a little late in posting today as I completely forgot to schedule my post last night and had to wait til I came home from work, so here it is.
It's friday again and time for another challenge on the Alphabet Challenge Blog!
I really enjoyed seeing all your handmade flowers over the past fortnight but we're up to I and the lovely Roxx chose the fantastically fun theme of...

I for Ice Cream!

How cool is that??!!  Sorry, couldn't resist the pun! lol!

So here's my card:

I made a twisted easel card and used the base of the card as an ice-cream cone.  I used my scorboard to add the embossed pattern of the cone.  I then die-cut 3 different coloured circles out of card for the ice-cream - I embossed the mango flavoured scoop with a cuttlebug folder and heat embossed around the edges of the mint flavoured scoop.  The raspberry flavoured scoop looked yummy just as it was.  And a charm was added as the cherry on top!

The papers are Pink Petticoat Pinstripes in Sassy and the sentiments are Kraftin Kimmie - I snipped the rubber between the words so as I could curve the phrase around the circle and I stamped it with versamark for a watermark effect.  The other one is stamped with a chalk ink.

I used a Stampin' Up! pendant punch and the smallest spellbinder circle die to cut out the shapes for the smaller cones.  I added some of my ancient peel-offs for the wording.

The inside uses the same elements and a place to write your own message.

You'll see lots more fantastic ice-cream themed inspiration from the rest of the DT on the Alphabet Challenge Blog - I can't wait to see your entry! :P
