Always With The Last Minute!

Tuesday, 1 April 2014

 Hi all!

I hope you're having a nice evening?  The rain was fairly pelting it down there a while ago, but it seems to have settled again...for now!

I hope all you mummy's out there (the maternal kind rather than the bandaged up kind!) had a nice day yesterday and were suitably spoiled!  My Mummy was away for a few days in Geneva (with Daddy!) and arrived back home again on Sunday evening so didn't get her spoiling til then.  It's a good thing too, cos I didn't even start making her Mother's Day card until 5 o'clock on Sunday evening!!  I don't know why I always leave things to the last minute!!

It wasn't for a DT challenge blog this time so no info to tell at the start for a change!

Here it is...

The image and sentiment was a freebie from the lovely Teri at Delicious Doodles, I got it from her Facebook group but I think she also has it on her website.  I coloured the roses with the following copics:  R22,21,00. YG97,95,93.  I painted over the wording with a glittery ink that I got from Stampin' Up! in the colour Champagne Mist.

I used some MME papers for the background from the Up & Away pad.  I used lots of dies... Spellbinder Decorative Labels 8 and Curved Rectangles mega nestabilities for the sentiment/image. Cheery Lynn Designs; Mini Fanciful Flourish.  Magnolia; Swirl Doohickey and Impression Obsession dies for the smallest rolled flowers.  The bigger rolled roses I cut by hand.  I sprinkled some Frantage embossing powder on the papers and heated from underneath for that speckledy (new word!) effect.

I also rubbed the roses in Versamark and frantaged the edges of some of them and I used holographic embossing powder on some others.

The inside has paper from the same pad and the sentiment is computer generated using the font Penshurst, which matches the image/sentiment on the front.  It also got the glittery ink treatment.

And that's my card.  I also made a box for it, but it was so simple I didn't bother photographing it - it just had a sheet of matching paper stuck to the lid - last minute, see!
I hope you like it, I was quite pleased that it actually turned out something like what I was imagining and my Mummy seemed to like it, even if she did have to be careful cos the glue was still wet!! lol!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Happy Mother's Day...again!

Wednesday, 13 March 2013

Morning everyone!

Has it been cold enough for you over the past few days?  Thankfully we didn't get very much snow this time but it has been so cold!  The sun is out today though so hopefully it'll start to warm up a bit!

I'm here today as I won the challenge at delightful challenges a few weeks ago (and all the better cos they choose the winners rather than a random pick) and I was asked to be a guest designer on their Digital Delights blog!  Of course I said I would!  They very kindly let me pick an image and a sentiment from their fab selection and this is what I did:

The image is Flower Power Daffy.  I reduced the opacity on the image before I printed it to have another go at the no-lines technique and I coloured her with the following copics: Skin; E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair; YR09,07,04. Clothes; Y17,15,13,00,YG13,11.  And Dark brown, Crimson red and Black Prisma pencils.

The papers are Pink Petticoat gingham.  I used Spellbinders eyelet squares for the mat and I threaded some ribbon through the holes.  I hauled out my sewing machine and stitched around the edges of each mat - I also took the opportunity to turn up some jeans that I've being meaning to do for ages!  I made some rolled roses out of the yellow card and the gingham paper - I cut the spiral myself as I don't have any dies for that.  My favourite Magnolia swirl die has made an appearance again and the ribbons are from my stash.  I coloured the sentiment with some of the same copics I used on the image and then blinged it up with a glittery pen.

The inside with more of the same as the front.

I also made a box to put the card into - as the rolled roses make the card a little too big for an envelope.  Here's a picture of the card with the box.

I attached magnets in the ends of the ribbon as a closure and then added some more roses to cover it - one of the roses acts as the opening.  Here's a picture of the box opened.

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe Crafts Challenge: Girly
Crafts 4 Eternity; Marvellous Mums

Happy Mother's Day!

Sunday, 3 April 2011

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mummies out there! I’m a little late in saying it here, but it’s been a busy day. My brother, sisters and I got a lovely pamper day for my mum and my sister got one as well, I came up with the idea to do that so I could go too - genius or what?!!

I had a busy weekend tidying my craft room and I didn’t realise just how overdue it was for a good tidy up until I came across my Christmas papers! Lol! To be fair, I purposely didn’t put them away cos I thought I’d make some Christmas cards, but I just don’t have the heart for it at the moment so they're all away now!

Anyway, this is the card I made for my mum...

I followed a fab tutorial on Heather’s blog on how to make shadow box cards.

I filled my box with hand-made wound-up roses, which I added a Swarovski crystal bead and some glitter. The glitter went on a little gloopy, but I think I quite like it - it looks a little like rain!

You can see the depth of the box here

The paper is Bo Bunny from the Vickie B paper pad. The sentiment is from a Kraftin’ Kimmie set and I added some Wild Orchid Crafts pearls to the corners.

I used the same papers on the inside

And finished it off in a matching box (I’ve been practicing tying bows, but I’m still not very good at it! And I have trimmed the ends of the bow since I took the photo.)
