Vintage-ish!

Friday, 14 March 2014

Hey everyone!

I've just noticed that this didn't post when it was supposed to - I think I hit save instead of publish, stupid me!
I've had the flu (again!) for the last couple of weeks and haven't been online so didn't notice til now, so I've had to re-write the start!  Not much to report though as I have hardly been out of the house over the last couple of weeks and when I was out, I just wanted to be back home again!
My granny is back home again, although she had a slightly extended stay in hospital after she broke her toe while she was in there!  I haven't been to see her since I took the flu as I don't want to smit her and make things worse!

Anyway, this card was for the challenge at Eclectic Ellapu when the Pink team were being hosted by May with her challenge of...

Vintage!

But changes are afoot over at Eclectic Ellapu and there are still a couple of days left to get your entries in!  We are changing to a 3 weekly challenge with 2 challenge options each time, one from us pinkies and one from the purplies.

So here is my card

My fab image was by Sketching Stamper and she's called Valentina.  It's a pity Chris doesn't do stamps anymore, cos I really love her style!
I coloured Valentina with the following copics: Skin;E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair;E44,43,42,41,40. Clothes & Roses;E09,08,07,04,YR24,23,21.

When I was asked to make this card a couple of the things I was told the recipient liked were chocolate and Johnny Depp movies (a girl after my own heart!), so I went with the theme of the Johnny Depp film "Chocolat" which is set in France and has a vintagey look to it.  I think the image looks a bit like the main character in the film (although I made her blond, like the recipient).  The card is like a trifold concertina type card, I'm not sure what it's proper name is!

The papers are First Edition, Dessert Blooms.  The dies I used are Spellbinders Petit Ovals lg and Labels 10.  The sentiments are computer generated and the font is Lainie Day.  I added some swarovski's to finish it off.

The inside has the same papers, dies and font.

So I hope you can make it in time for this challenge - we have another one (or two!) starting on Sunday with the pinkies and purplies joining forces at Eclectic Ellapu!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Twisted Sister

Friday, 13 May 2011

I always love trying new techniques and new folds. When I saw this ‘twist’ on the regular easel cards I thought it looked difficult – how wrong was I?!! I love making these cards now; I think it’s one of my favourite types of cards at the moment.

So here’s my first attempt at a twisted easel - a birthday card for my sister

Photobucket

Like the original easel card, it’s very difficult to photograph!

The image I used is from Sketching Stamper and is called Valentina. I coloured her with my copics and teamed her with papers from the MME Stella & Rose pad. I love the vintagy feel of it.

Photobucket

I finally got a lace border doo hickey (have wanted one forever, but they’re so expensive!) and I after I cut a few strips I ran them through my paper crimper and scrunched it up. Then I attached it to the card with some extra sticky tape.

Photobucket

The sentiments are from Waltzing Mouse and I added a few blue Swarovski’s for a bit of bling. I also used up some of the scrap paper on the sentiments. I added a pocket to the inside underneath the flap to hide some money in – the recipient found it incredibly quickly though!!

Paper Roses

Sunday, 10 April 2011

I went to a pub quiz last night – my second pub quiz ever, and the first one was years ago! The rest of my team was made up of my mum, 2 sisters and my friend. With extremely low expectations, we were delighted to come third! And with the top 2 teams breaking the rules by having 7 & 8 people on their teams :O – rather than the 5 in the rules – we really won!! As it was for charity though, they were allowed to keep their positions, so we were gracious in defeat. To their faces anyway! Lol

I then got up early this morning to watch the grand prix in Malaysia. It was a really good race and I was delighted to see Nick Heidfeld on the podium – He’s one of the drivers that I met a couple of years ago, so I have a wee soft spot for him!

Anyway, I was asked to make an anniversary card, I think I may have mentioned it before, but I struggle with anniversary cards for some reason – I’m putting it down to the fact that one half of the recipient is a man! So totally ignoring that fact, I went very pink with this one!

Photobucket

I used the fabby Rose Heart from Sketching Stamper, coloured with my copics. I added some Swarovski crystals for a bit of bling.

Photobucket

Just a wee note here, I don’t know if it’s just me, but sometimes I love the effect you get on the back of an image after you’ve coloured it, I thought this one was lovely!

Photobucket

The papers I used were Bo Bunny, Love Bandit and Pink Petticoat, pretty doodles. A few pink pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts some pink satin ribbon to finish off.

Photobucket

I brought the fancy tags element from the front through to the inside along with the same papers.

Photobucket

I don’t usually make cards to stand like this so thought I’d do it this time to be a bit different. Then I discovered that it was too heavy and kept collapsing! I was just about to tear it off to re-do it when I had an idea – I ran some power pritt stick down the edges of the card where it would be standing. I let it dry before I stood it up and it gave the edges a rubberised sort of feel, so it didn’t slip when I stood it up. It worked a treat! So there’s a wee tip for you!

Photobucket

Quite a few challenges this time:

Anything Goes Challenge Blog; Pearls

A Spoonful of Sugar; Tons of Texture – the ribbon and the card – also I think the roses on the image give the effect of texture.

Charisma Cardz Challenges; Weddings/Anniversary’s

CLP; Sketch

My Partner in Crafting Crime; Layer it up

Fathers Day

Wednesday, 24 June 2009

Photobucket

Fathers day has to be one of the hardest times for us card-makers! It is for me anyway, I find it so hard to make male cards. So for this one I decided to use an image that I love!

I used the sketch from Sunday Sketch & Stamp for this card.

Photobucket

And this is my card:

Photobucket

The reason I love this image is because my pride and joy is my mini! I even coloured this one in the colours of my mini (whose name is Bert by the way!!)

Photobucket

The fabby image is from Sketching stamper. I was gonna write Bert on the number plate but then I thought I'd better try to make it more for da! So I wrote I heart Da!! on it instead!

This is the inside:

Photobucket

As far as I remember the papers are Basic Grey but I have a head like a sieve so I'll have to check that when I get home this evening.

Hope you liked it - Da had a chuckle anyway!!

Thanks for dropping by!
