Out Of This World!

Monday, 30 September 2013

Hello hello!

I hope you're all keeping well?  My flu is still here but a good bit better than I was last week.  I'm still coughing a lot, particularly at night which is annoying but hopefully it will disappear soon!

Time for a new challenge at Seems A Little Sketchy and our sponsor for this fortnight are My Grafico

They are offering one set up to $5 of winners choice

Here's our sketch for this challenge

And here is my card - we were given images by the sponsor to work with.

The cake and the little characters are all from My Grafico and were precoloured so I just had to print and cut them out.  I added the wording to the cake on the computer using a font called Sabrina.  I added some Glossy Accents to the aliens eyes - I was going to add some googly eyes, but I can't find them anywhere!  I have no idea where I put them!

The papers I have used are Bo Bunny from the Blast Off collection.  The glitter card is from a pack I bought in Tesco and the dies are Die-namics stacking stars and the shooting star is a Joanna Sheen Signature die.  I used a clear stardust pen over the sentiment so the light is making it hard to read in the picture - it says "Birthday wishes that are out of this world!".

The inside corresponds with the front with space to write on the cake.

So please take a look at what the rest of the DT have done at Seems A Little Sketchy and join in yourself!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

 Bearly Mine Challenges; Anything Goes
Bunny Zoe's Crafts Challenge; Something blue
Charisma Cardz; Inside
Crafts 4 Eternity; Anything goes
Crafty Catz; Happy birthday
Crafty Creations Challenges; Split it up
Drunken Stampers; Die cuts

Soft As A Babies Bum!

Friday, 27 September 2013

Good morning everyone!

I hope you're all well?  I'm not :(  My chest infection/flu took a hold and I've been unwell all week.  Thankfully I had a better nights sleep last night and I think (touch wood!) that I'm starting to feel a little bit better today :)
On another note, I can't believe it's a year today since my accident, it really doesn't seem like a whole year though!

We have a new challenge today at the Alphabet Challenge Blog and our lovely Jennifer has chosen the theme for the next fortnight.  She has chosen...

Q for Quilt!

I was a bit stumped as to what to do for this challenge as I don't normally do that kind of thing, but then my cousin became a daddy last week and I thought that it would be a great technique to use on a baby card, cos it could look lovely and soft!

Here's what I did:

The papers I have used are all Pink Petticoat in 6 different designs and all in the colour Pebble (or the new version is Pebble Lagoon)  I printed out a couple of plain coloured sheets in the same colour for my matting and layering.  I cut the papers into 3.5cm squares (to fit the 14cm for my card.) and arranged the squares to suit the patterns.  I then took a firm foam pad and a large ball embossing tool and shaped each of the squares.  I attached the squares to my card (I lightly drew a grid on the card to make sure I got the squares lined up properly) with foam stickies, so my quilted background looks and feels soft and springy!
The dies I used are Spellbinders circle and large scallop circle, Marianne Design "Baby" and Memory Box Precious Hearts.  A few diamantés and pearls were added to finish it off.

The image I have used is also from Pink Petticoat and I paper-pieced the elephant with another Pink Petticoat paper.  I used a few copics to fill in the gaps - BV23 and YG11,13 for the grass.  A little gem in the centre of the flower was added for a bit of bling!  The sentiment comes along with the image.

The inside got the same quilting treatment and a plain circle for my greetings.

Here's a close up of the quilting.

I do hope you can join us at the Alphabet Challenge Blog this fortnight for this challenge and I hope you have as much fun with it as I did!  Check out what the rest of the DT did for more fab inspiration!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe's Crafts; Something blue

Crafty Ribbons Challenge Blog; Monochrome
Deep Ocean Challenge Blog; For a baby
Divas By Design; Monochrome

That's Just Super!

Sunday, 22 September 2013

Hi everyone!

What a busy week it has been!  Christenings, birthdays, baby sitting, waiting to see if I was going on a flight (which didn't happen again, thanks to our lovely weather :/  ), as well as working and trying to do a bit of crafting too.  Plus I think I'm coming down with something, I feel achy all over, have a sore throat and a cough :(  I hope it goes away before it turns into anything worse!

We have a new challenge today from the Pink Team at Eclectic Ellapu - it's my turn to host and the challenge I have chosen is...

For A Boy!

It's my little nephew Ryan's 6th birthday today - he's starting to be not so little!  He loves playing Super Mario on the Playstation or Wii so when I saw this Magnolia stamp I knew I wanted to make a card for Ryan with it!  I'm not sure if I'm totally happy with the results but it'll have to do now!

Here's the card:

And here it is opened out into an easel card:

The Magnolia image has been coloured with the following copics: Skin; E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair and shoes: E39,37,29. Clothes; C2,R39,37,29,B26,24,23,Y15.  I fussy cut Edwin out to attach him to the card.

I was trying to remember what the world of Super Mario was like from playing the games myself when I was a child and I remembered the big things that he could jump over and go into - I'm not sure if they were flower pots or pipes but I thought I'd add one to the card anyway.  It ended up being a little bigger than I wanted but it had to accommodate the Papermania "6" stamp that I have, so it had to be that big!  You can pull the top of the pipe up to reveal the glittery number.

I just used plain coloured card for the background and I cut the mountains by hand.  I also used a few dies; Memory Box Marshmallow clouds and Cherry Blossom and a swirl Doo Hickey.  The sentiment is computer generated using a free Super Mario font from Dafont.

So that's my card, I hope you can join us this week over at Eclectic Ellapu, go see what the rest of the DT have done this week!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe's Crafts; Something blue
Crafts 4 Eternity; Cute kids
Papercrafting Journey; Flowers
Stamp & Create; Birthdays
Papertake Weekly; Make it sparkle
The Squirrel And The Fox; Happy birthday

Totally Papercrafts; Happy birthday

A New Sketch

Monday, 16 September 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all keeping well and staying warm, the weather has really gone to the dogs and it's so cold!  I really don't want to have to turn my heating on but the layers aren't really working right!

I was away yesterday at my wee nephew Noah's christening day.  He was so good and didn't make a peep all day, the wee pet.  We had a yummy dinner afterwards too, so had a very nice day, and ended up staying out longer than I meant to!

We have a new sketch up today at Seems A Little Sketchy and a new sponsor...

Sassy Studio Designs

with a prize of 4 digi stamps!

Here is the sketch for the next fortnight

And here is what I did...

We were each supplied with an image by our sponsor and mine is called Katnis, Girl on fire, based on the character from The Hunger Games.  I just love her dress and I had to colour it red!  I coloured her with the following copics: Skin; E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair; E39,37,35,29. Dress; C9,R39,37,29.

The papers I have used are DCWV, All Dressed Up.  I used a Memory Box, Quinn Flourish die and a couple of small oval spellbinder dies for the Wild Rose Studio sentiment.  The gems are from my stash.

The inside follows the same sketch with the same papers.

Go have a look at what the rest of the DT have done at Seems A Little Sketchy!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

You Stole My Heart

Friday, 6 September 2013

Hi everyone!

Thank crunchy it's Friday!!  It's been a long week.  I'm so looking forward to this weekend!
What better way to end a long week than with a new challenge?
How about one from PunkYouGirl?  :)

Our challenge this month was set by the lovely Jane and she chose...

Red & Black!

My favourite colour combo!!  I've said before but they are my county colours and my car (Clifford) is red with black stripes!

Remember that we are a darker themed challenge blog so gothic/steampunk etc entries.

So here's my card:

The image is Heartless by Mo's Digital Pencil and I coloured her with the following copics: Skin: E21,00,0000. Clothes and hair: R59,39,29,100,C9,7,6.

I used some plain black card and cut it to size, then I tore it and ran it through my bug in a Stampin Up! stripes embossing folder.  I then used my Crop-o-dile to add some eyelets.  I attached the two pieces to my red base and then threaded some thin black ribbon, corset style, up the card.  I die cut a Go Kreate heart and before I removed the card from the die I used a black fine liner to doodle a chequer-board effect over the heart (this took flippin ages!)  I fussy-cut the image and placed her over the heart.  The sentiment is computer generated and distressed with black soot distress ink.  The charm is from my stash.

The inside has the same treatment (more or less) as the front.  (I hadn't time to chequer this heart though)

So I do hope you can join us for this challenge - go take a look at what the first half of the DT have done at PunkYouGirl!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Blog Candy Winner!

Tuesday, 3 September 2013

Hi everyone!

A huge thank you to everyone who entered my candy and to all my new followers too!
And thank you for all the lovely comments about where I live, I do feel lucky to live here (especially when the Game of Thrones people come to visit! ;) lol!).
I got a lot of great feed-back re the whole follower thing and which way is preferred, Google Friends Connect seems to still be the favourite, closely(ish) followed by Bloglovin.  A few people just said Google so I'm not sure if they meant friends connect or google +.  Feedly and Networked blogs got a mention each too.  Not enough to add I'm afraid.  Not one person mentioned Linky Followers, so it's a gonner!  I have since connected my blog to my google + account so it's now there as a way to follow too.  So in summary, I'm left with the same number of ways to follow as I started, but I got rid of one and added one!  Hopefully they'll all keep working!

Anyway, down to the business of  who has won my candy...

I used Random.org to choose a number and it chose...

Number 10!  That's you Eithne!  Please contact me with your address and I'll get it sent off to you!
I hope you have fun with your goodies!

Ivy Wings

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well?
My niece is so excited about starting school tomorrow!  I'm not sure how long her excitement will last - my nephew started P2 yesterday and is complaining about homework already! lol!  She's so cute in her wee uniform though!

We have a new challenge today from the Creative Card Crew and our sponsor for the next fortnight is Delicious Doodles - I love their digi stamps!

Their offering 4 digi's to one lucky winner!

So our challenge this fortnight is....

Things with wings!

The DT were supplied with images from Delicious Doodles and here's what I did:

The image is called Ivy Fairy and I coloured her with the following copics: Skin (lot's of it!); E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair; E47,44,43,40. Wings and ivy; YG97,95,93,91. Background; E37,35,33,30,W3,1.

The papers I used are Basic Grey, Hello Luscious.  I used a Umount (I think it's a Sheena Douglas set) to stamp swirls around the image with versamark and I used Super Sparkle holographic Embossing powder.  I also did this on the design paper.  It's hard to get a picture of it but it is really lovely and sparkly in real life.
A Spellbinders Grand Nestibility Decorative Element was used for the circle and I distressed the papers with Frayed Burlap DI.  The ribbon and pearls are from my stash.

The same layout and papers were used for the inside.  I didn't add a sentiment so it can be used for any occasion.

So take a look at what the rest of the DT have done at the Creative Card Crew and let us see what gives you wings!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Friday Sketch Challenge; Sketch - I added a bit of ribbon, I hope that is OK?
Craft Your Passion Challenge; Do you believe in fairies?
Cute Card Thursday; Things with wings
A Gem Of A Challenge; Use 2 backing papers
Ohh La La Challenge Blog; Pearls & swirls
Sweetpea Stampers; Fantasy

Thanks for looking - I'll be back later with the winner of my blog candy!

And here's our fab sketch for you to work with this fortnight!

My little nephew Ryan is back to school today, into P2, after his nice long summer holidays but my wee niece Holly starts in P1 on Wednesday, so I thought I'd give her this card for her big day!

The image was provided by Robyns Fetish and I coloured her with the following copics: Skin; E21,13,00,0000,R20. Uniform; G07,05,Y17,15,13. Hair; E44,43,40. The rest; E47,39,35,33,30,29. RV34,32,B95,93,91,W3,1.

Sunday, 1 September 2013

Hi everyone!

A late one from me, not only tonight but this should've been posted on Friday!  My shoulders have been playing up something serious and I didn't have my project finished on time.

Thanks to everyone who entered my blog candy, I'm astounded by the number of entries and by how many new followers I've got - big hello to you all and welcome!  It has now closed and I meant to be organised enough to draw my winners today, but I'm running a bit behind so I'll draw them in the next day or two.  Sorry for the delay!

So we have a new (ish!) challenge up on the Alphabet Challenge Blog and Shaz has been lovely and let me add my project a bit late, but Tammy has chosen a fab challenge for the next fortnight...

O for One Word Sentiment!

I decided to make this into a little project and made a box set of cards like this one...

I used a large "Thanks" stamp on white card with versamark and I used clear embossing powder over the word.  I then used some distress inks and blended the colour from the corner up over the word.  To make the word stand out a little more I used the same ink pad and a paint brush to give a shadow to the letters.

I then used a flower and swirl doohickey to make up the flowers in contrasting colours and added some tiny beads to the centres of the flowers.  Matching ribbon was also attached.  I added the ribbon to the inside as well.

I made a set using 4 different colours.

And I made a box to put them all in!

So please take a look at the Alphabet Challenge Blog to see the gorgeousness from the rest of the ladies (who were on time!) and have a go yourself!

I'd like to enter these cards in the following challenges:

All Sorts Challenge Blog; It's all about the sentiment
Charisma Cardz Challenges: One
Delightful Challenges: Make the cut
Less Is More: Use a rubber stamp
