Circletastic

Tuesday, 30 April 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well.  I had a lovely weekend and didn't leave the house once!  After a few very busy weekends it was a welcome change!  Although my house was crying out for a good clean so had to do a wee bit of that! lol!

In between cleaning though, I found some time for crafting - it has to be done, right?!  I made my card for the new challenge at the Creative Card Crew.

This fortnight we are being sponsored once again by the fabulous Scrapping Center!

And they're offering another $15 to spend in their store to one lucky winner!

Our challenge for this fortnight is...

Bling!

I love this challenge!  And I'm sure I'll be totally wowed by all the bling blogland has to offer!

Here's what I did:

I went a bit mad with the circles!  I fell in love with this image "Summer" the moment I saw it at Saturated Canary.  I coloured her with the following copics: Skin: E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair:E49,47,44,43,42. Clothes:Y06,02,00,B24,23,21,YG17,13,11,RV13,11,10,BG49,45,000. I have been a bit slack with colouring backgrounds so I thought this would be a good image to start practicing on and I used G28,24,21,E49,RV34,N1,B0000 to do it.

The papers I have used are Country Drive by Echo Park.  I used Spellbinders Decorative Elements Grand Nestibilities for the base of the card and Go Kreate large circles too.  Smaller Spellbinders dies were used for the image and back panel.  I used a white gel pen on the scallops and my bling is the pink and clear gems around the base scallops.  I also added a little clear gem to Summer's bow in her hair.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up! from the Happiest Birthday Wishes set, with a few more gems, just because.

A fairly simple inside, because it's quite a small space with another stamp from the Stampin' Up! set.

So go take a peek at the rest of the samples from the DT at the Creative Card Crew - they're all fab!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe's Crafts Challenge: Favourite colour combo
Crafty Sentiments Designs Challenge: The letter B = Blue, Butterflies, Bow

Let's Call It A Mid-Week Reminder!

Tuesday, 23 April 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well?
For those inquiring about my cousin, he performed brilliantly in the final on Friday night, but the competition was so tight that he didn't win.  He wasn't too disappointed though and it was such a brilliant experience - there's no stopping him now!

We had a fantastic weekend away to celebrate my mum turning 60 last month.  She was so surprised about all the people who came along to celebrate with us - my aunt even came over from the US to join us!  And on Saturday night my little cousin (see above!) and my uncle entertained us all into the wee small hours!  We've all been knackered ever since! lol!

And as I was away for the weekend I didn't get to post about the new Pink Team challenge at Eclectic Ellapu, so I'll add my DT entry now and call it a mid-week reminder! lol!

The lovely Dawn is hosting this week and she has chosen the theme of...

It's In The Stars!

A difficult one I think with a brief of signs of the Zodiac/Horoscopes/Astrology.  Well, I found it difficult anyway!

Here's what I did:

I didn't know where to start and then I found this fab image - Catleya Tangleberry by Lacy Sunshine - and I thought she looked a little mystical!  I coloured her with the following copics:  Skin: E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair: E29,39,37,35. Clothes: YG97,95,93,91,V17,15,12. Books: E37,35,33,31,30  And I used a gold metallic pen for the rims of her glasses and on the books.

The papers are MME Mischievous and Basic Grey Eerie.  I used lots of starry dies: Spellbinder Star Circles (plus a plain circle), X-Cut Nesting Stars & Dienamics Stacking Stars.
The sentiment is computer generated with the oddly named font: Kingsthings Flashbang.

I hand-drew the symbols of the Signs of the Zodiac onto the different sized stars following this chart that I got off t'internet.

The inside is done to compliment the front and using the Stampin' Up! Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set for the sentiment.

So go take a look at what the rest of the DT have done at Eclectic Ellapu and have a go yourself - I'd love to see what you do!

There is also a DT-Call open at the moment for another week or so, so why not put your name down and join in the fun?!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Delicious Doodles Challenges; Colour combo - brown & green
Movie Magic Monthly; Harry Potter - I'm thinking of Professor Sybil Trelawny here.
One Stitch At A Time; Use a digi stamp
Paper Crafting Journey; Use a sentiment
QKR Stampede; Punches or dies
Stamp & Create; At least 1 die-cut

Tea Or Coffee?

Tuesday, 16 April 2013

Hi everyone!

Well, news on my cousin...  He got through to the final!!  The final is on this Friday night but unfortunately I can't go :(  The competition is so tight so it's brilliant that he got that far and I so hope he does well on the night.  The prize is worth the effort - £10,000.00, never mind the exposure!  A star of the not-so-distant future me thinks! :)

So another fortnight has passed since the last challenge at the Creative Card Crew - I can't believe it's gone so fast!  We have another fab challenge for the next fortnight and another fab, new sponsor!

Birdie Brown have some gorgeous digi stamps and they're offering 3 of them as a prize to one lucky winner!

So the challenge for the next 2 weeks is...

Handmade flowers!

I can't wait to see what you do with this challenge as there are so many fantastic ways to hand make flowers and blogland and youtube are full of tutorials.

The DT were lucky enough to be given some Birdie Brown images to work with for this challenge and here's what I did:

The image is called Retro Girl by Birdie Brown and I coloured her with the following copics: Skin: E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair: E31,29,09,08. Dress: G85,82,40. Scarf & shoes: RV34,32,06,04,02. Cup: G09,07,05. Chair: Y26,23,21. Table: BV31,23,0000. Background: E41.

The papers are Cosmo Cricket, Upcycle.  The ribbon is from my stash as is the die that cut the mini tag with - I have no idea what make it is as I think I got it before I even knew what die cutting was! lol!
The sentiment is by Kraftin' Kimmie.

I first saw this sort of rose on Jules' blog and she directed me to where she saw it who luckily for us, has a tutorial on how to make them!  I'm not overly happy with how my rose turned out, I think my ribbon was too wide, but I'll definitely have another go at it sometime!

The inside of my card, as always, compliments the front, with another Kraftin' Kimmie sentiment.

So please go over to the Creative Card Crew blog to see the fab flowers by the rest of the DT (they're much better than mine!) and have a go yourself!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Birthday Frog!

Friday, 12 April 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all keeping well?
I'm looking forward to tonight as my cousin's  son is taking part in a talent competition and he's in the semi-final tonight!  He is a fantastic singer and plays the guitar and he really should win the whole thing!  I'm hoping to be able to get to see him tonight and lend my support.

Time for another challenge!  This fortnight's challenge at the Alphabet Challenge Blog was chosen by our lovely Tammy, and she chose...

E for Emerald!

So we are looking for some green in your work - it doesn't have to be all green.

It was one of my friend's from Kraft Krazy's birthday last month.  Her forum name is Frogs and when I saw this image I knew I had to use it for her birthday card!  I also thought it would be the perfect green for this challenge!
And who knew?  I just found out today that April is National Frog Month!!  Ribbit!

Here's my card:

The image is Eleanor and Pickles Birthday Time by Lacy Sunshine.  I coloured them with the following copics:  Skin; E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair;E49,47,44,43. Pickles; G17,16,14,YG05,03,blender. Clothes; BG34,32,B06,05,04,V17,15,12,RV34,32,09,06,04,R00.  I added glossy accents to the lens of her glasses and the balloons (I think I put some on Pickles' eyes too, but I haven't got the card anymore to check and I can't see on the pictures :/ )

The paper is by Typo and the flowers were a free gift from My Crafty Heart.  The ribbon is from my stash.
The sentiment is by Wild Rose Studio and punched out with a Stampin' Up! punch.  And no card is complete without a Doohickey swirl!

The inside has been made to compliment the front.

So do yourself a favour and go and have a gander at what the rest of the DT have done at the Alphabet Challenge Blog!

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Wedded Bliss

Sunday, 7 April 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well?  It has warmed up a lot here since my last post and almost all the snow from around my house has gone, but there's still a lot over the Mourne Mountains a few miles away.  Lot's of people are enjoying it by going up and skiing etc, but I'm afraid that's not for me!
Apparently there has even been an avalanche!  I've never heard of there being an avalanche in our wee mountains before and luckily no-one was near it.

Time for another Pink challenge at Eclectic Ellapu and it's our lovely Claire's turn to host.  The challenge she has chosen for the next week is...

Wedding, Engagement or Anniversary!

A fab challenge for this time of year as there are always so many weddings taking place!

Speaking of which, my card was made for my cousin and his lovely bride who got married last week on Easter Monday!  Of course we all wondered up until the bitter end if it was all an elaborate April Fool, but so far, it seems legit!  Lol!

I made an Easel card

My most-used-ever stamp is You & Me Baby by Tiddlyinks.  I adjusted the print colour to sepia before I printed it and coloured it with the following copics:  Skin: E21,13,00,0000,R20. Hair and clothing: E39,37,35,33,31,30,29,R39,07,Blender.

I printed the sentiments along with the image by adding them on Powerpoint.  I also printed the names onto corresponding card.  The corner swirly stamp is a mixture of two - the bigger one is a LOTV clear stamp and the smaller one is by Magnolia.  The die is Decorative Labels 8 from Spellbinders.
I don't know the manufacturer of the paper as it is a really old one from my stash and there was no name on it.  The pearls and lace are from my stash and I distressed everything (including the lace) with Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo distress inks.

I added a place to write your greeting under the easel with a computer generated sentiment.  The sentiment on the mini tag is from Wild Rose Studio.  I also added a little pocket for a gift to be enclosed.

So go take a look at the fab inspiration from the rest of the DT at Eclectic Ellapu!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:

By The Cute & Girly; Vintage
Delicious Doodles Challenge: More than 1 fold
Papercrafting Journey; Monochromatic
Stamp & Create Challenge; Use at least 1 die cut
Tuesday Alchemy; Over the pastel rainbow

On A Wing & A Prayer

Tuesday, 2 April 2013

Hi everyone!

I was away at my cousin's wedding last night, it was a great night with lots of food and dancing and plenty of craic!  It's always good to catch up with family that you don't see often enough.
I'm tired today though, the last time I looked at the clock before I went to sleep it was 6:20am!  Yawn!

Anyway, time for another challenge at the Creative Card Crew and this fortnight we are sponsored by the fabulous Stamp Fairy

And they're offering one lucky winner $10 to spend in their store!

The design team were privileged to get some of their gorgeous images to work with and the theme for the challenge is...

Clouds!

Isn't that a lovely challenge!

Here's what I did:

My image is called Molly Fairy 4 and I coloured her with the following copics: Skin; E21,13,00,0000,R20. Dress; B95,93,91. Wings; RV13,11,10. Star; Y13,11. Swing; E39,37,35,33. Hair; E57,55,53,51.

The paper is one I've had for ages and was afraid to use up!  It's by Magnolia and is called Lazy Summer Days, Blue Sky.  The dies are Memory Box, Marshmallow clouds and I fussy cut the image to attach to the cloud.  The image is Kraftin Kimmie and the bakers twine and charm is from  my stash.

The inside is done to match the front as usual.

So go and have a look at the Creative Card Crew blog and see what the rest of the DT have done.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:
