For my new niece!

Friday 28 November 2008

So, I managed to fit in making some cards for the new baby - I've been so busy lately I don't know how I did it!
I was inspired by Suzanne's wonderful ideas to make my card and a small present. You can see her blog here.
So first of all I made little cards with matching envelopes which are simply printed, scored, cut, folded and stuck. They are from Joanna Sheen's Baby Love CD.
Then I made a box to put them in - I was able to make the cards, envelopes and the base of the box before the baby was born as they aren't gender specific! Then I just had to make and decorate the lid of the box! Again the images are from the Baby Love CD and match the cards. I coloured around the heart with a pink Sakura gelly roll glaze pen to make it a lovely purple colour.

Then I made my card to match the present. I printed out the sheet of toppers from the Baby Love CD and cut around one of the biggest hearts. Again, I coloured the blue edge of the heart with the pink pen and carefully stuck DS tape as close to the edge as I could get it (between the scallops I snipped the tape and stuck it back on itself.)
I then got a piece of pink glitter card and folded it in half and then the two side in half again to make a pop out piece for the inside of the card.
Then, I stuck the heart to the pop-out piece carefully lining it up with the centre line. Using a sharp blade I cut around the heart shape leaving the scalloped edge attached to the pop-out piece. I then attached the whole piece to some pink mirri card folded with the mirri to the inside.
I kept the cut out heart and used it to decoupage the topper for the front of the card and added a few other embellishments to the front before finishing the inside using one of the smaller toppers mounted onto a circle of card and attaching it to the pop-out with jump rings. I also wrote the date the baby was born onto the back of the circle.

This is the front of the card:

And this is the inside of the card:

So that was my card. I'll add a couple of others later!
Thanks for looking!

Your card is beautiful, I love that image of the baby it's so sweet. You've put so much work into it all too, it's lovely.
